I’ve been looking into learning something new. I’ve noticed that I’ve several times have had use for knowledge about picture editing as well as video editing. I need to get started somewhere so I’ve looked into the different programs, specifically 3; Photoshop, Coral paint shop and Gimp.
So where do I start with this? First off getting the program I’ve decided to go for Gimp. Then a tutorial would be next up. I found a nice updated tutorial on YouTube.
First step into learning is taken.
I’ve also looked into some real life courses for picture taking, to get some guidance for using my new Nikon Camera that I’ve acquired for usage for the website. As I’ve never had real interest in pictures before I need to be on and keep on up to learn. My goal is to be able to take half decent pictures and even film for the website.
There is a local shop in town that holds a beginners course and I’ve contacted them today about getting in on one of those courses.
So all well and done.
Then guild PvE raid in the evening. We started up with Cairn which is a new boss for most of the people in my group. I choose to have a try at this one, as the group I’m trying to teach is having a hard time with Vale Guardian. Cairn imo has some of the same familiar mechanics from VG and some from Fractals that we’ve done.
After just a few tries several started complaining about how hard it was, that they wanted to do something easier. One in particular started explaining another raid boss.
Being a raid leader puts in a position of focus and if things go wrong, setup is wrong, people lack healing, lack of dps, lack of sustainability etc. why? Well you’re the one in control, you’re the one that knows all the members, knowing they’re playstyle, whey characters they have what gear they have available. It’s your job to set up the raid with the highest chance of success, and for a new group like this: make them have fun.
If my group doesn’t have fun, or doesn’t want to be where I place them, then there is no reason for me to continue.
What could I as a Raid leader do, facing a mutiny?
I asked directly, what do you want? Stay here and continue, go back to the other boss or do you want to do something else?
The answer came quickly and several people answered that they wanted to do the raid that the one person had mentioned.
Ok, so I knew what they wanted. They don’t know I spend more than an hour every time we change boss, to learn mechanic, setting up possible parties depending who gets online. The boss they wanted, I’ve never done nor prepared for.
So I let them do it, giving my commander tag to the one that said knew the raid.
The beginning was chaotic and the new raid leader didn’t know what to do. I left as I was feeling down for people not joining in what I’ve prepared for them. And short after they figured out that people need a mastery to do the raid which they didn’t. So the raids were ended.
I find it hard sometimes to keep my authority as I’m one of the youngest in the guild and being a leader. It can be hard to ask someone twice your age to focus up.
How to handle situations like this is something I need to learn in my everlasting process of becoming a great guild leader and raid leader.
I believe that these incidents will help me to evolve and become better, I’m lucky to have such a patient guild to back me up and let me learn.
