In my last post, I told about one of the benefits of being an IT person, but as you may know, there is a lot of responsibility on a SysAdmin's shoulders.
Sometimes we get a huge task on our hands or a problem we have to solve and many are depending on us. If we do anything wrong, it will cause our users problems. If we as a System Administrators are, vary and unsecure in what we do, then our users will become frustrated and start worrying which may lead to chaos.
This is one of the reasons that we are "never" wrong, even if we maybe are wrong. Some IT people are taking this a bit too seriously, and some have become a bit arrogant and proud. That’s not good, nobody likes an arrogant person, but at least you feel like they know what they are doing right? Imagine how it would be if you asked:
You: "You can fix this right? And it'll be done by today?"
And they answered:
They: "I don't know, maybe, if, possibly.. I can try, but it seems difficult, maybe.. I could call an consultant, but that’s really expensive, but he knows for sure. Done by today? Ehm, maybe? I don’t know"
Isn't it better when we say:
They: "Yeah I can probably fix it, I think I'll be done by today, if not tomorrow morning"
