Sound for body and mind
In today’s society we all listen to something. News, music, podcasts and so on. It doesn’t matter where we are; on the bus, at home, at school, work, or working out. We put on our headset and we walk, run or sleep.
We like to turn our mind off and just relax. But why? Stress. We work most of the day, study something on the side or maybe the other way around. We are supposed to be social, have hobbies, work out, da everything everyone else is doing, and we are supposed to be better, use more time and achieve more. There is no wonder why we like to shut down every though and just listen to our favourite music.
But every now and then when we’ve been listening for a long time on the same headset it will sadly break. And what happens right before? The horrible sound of a headset dying. *skkkkrrrrrr brrr iii rr crr crrrrrrr* everytime you move. That’s when you realise it’s time to get a new headset and this time to be more careful with the cord when you put the phone in your pants. But you never remember that do you?
I, like everyone else loves music. I also have equipment to play the music, speakers in every form. And that’s what I’m going to write about now.
On my beloved Drogon (my gaming rig) I have connected a 5.1 speaker system that I adore. the Logitech Z506. Since I live at home I seldom play loud music, so these speakers are perfect and I can still turn the volume up for a bit and enjoy it for a while, with no bad sounds. It has more than enough power to blast the bass. They are kind of small but do a wonderful work. And the subwoofer is the perfect height on the floor under my desk so I can rest my feet on it (yeah I know it’s not supposed to be used that way)
For a while this speaker system was better than the one connected to my TV. So yeah its plenty for my computer.
Now, a real gamer must have a headset. There is no way possible to play FPS games without sound. And I’ve had several headsets. The one I have now, is the Sennheiser PC350 SE. I like it, good sound, very comfy to use for hours and the microphone is wonderful!
I’ve used it for years and I couldn’t have done it without it!
And of course as the worker I am I use public transport when I’m going to work, and as most of you know, public transport is LOUD! There is so much noise, and not the good kind. Screaming grumpy kids, motor sound, people breathing, and more annoying small sounds early in the morning. So I use the perfect headset atm. The Bose QC 25. Active noise cancelling, quality sound and if you turn up the music volume a bit then you can’t hear a thing of what happens around you. A must on planes and a miracle on the bus.
Well this is as far as I know not a speaker, but a microphone, but it’s worth mentioning since it has scary good quality on the recordings.
This is one of my project for next year. I’m going to the worlds next largest LAN party. 5000 people. And I’m going in as my first time with style. Not going to give details, making a post about the build next year. But here I use 6x9” pioneer speakers along with a Pioneer radio.
I’ve also helped my brother out with the sound system in his car. We built some new panels for the inside of the doors in the back and put 10” subwoofers in there on both sides, you can see one of them on the small picture. He has a big VAN and has 5 sets of speakers (10 speakers) in the car. We had a small set back when someone broke in and stole most of the sound equipment, but we’re back on track. It’s going to be so cool when it’s done
Yes, I have cheap extras everywhere, in my purse, in my desk at work and a few more at home.
So I guess you can say I like sound. At least I’ve used some money on having this equipment. I like sound, I like to listen and I like music. I am a good listener.
Listen to this on your favorite speakers!
We use so much time listening to music, do we use equally much time listening to the people around us? Or do we hide behind our headset? All this listening has it made us deaf to our friend’s needs? I’ve learned to listen; I focus on it. But sitting on the bus I’m not in mood to listen to other people, is it bad? Should we use more time to listen, to help and to understand others? If we all continue to hide and to think only of ourselves wouldn’t that in the long run ruin the world we live in, make us all those egoistic bastards, we hate?
Listen to music, but remember to listen to others. How we treat others define who we are as a person.
Next time someone ask us for directions when we have our headphones on, take them off, smile and help them. I promise you, the sound of those 200$ headsets sound so much better after doing something good for someone else.

Music in our daily lives.
So as you now know, I listen to a lot of music, anywhere and anytime. Naturally I’m curious on how this affect my brain and mind state. So I’ve done a bit of digging and I’ve found some interesting facts about this. It seems like I’m far from the first thinking about this.
So this study showed that after hearing a short piece of music, participants were more likely to interpret a neutral expression as happy or sad, to match the tone of the music they heard.
This shows that it does something to our face, how we express ourselves.
But do we always feel sad from listening to say music? No. As you can see here, sometimes we can understand the emotions of a piece of music without actually feeling them, which explains why some of us find listening to sad music enjoyable, rather than depressing. This sounds familiar, I listen to a lot of sad/ depressing music, but I find myself smiling when I listen to it.
It increases your creativity. This is something I’ve heard people say, and I agree. Before every exam I’ve ever had I used to listen to Classical music when I studied and when I slept. Also depending on what I’m writing on this blog I listen to music. If I’m writing a longer piece like this one I start with loud chaotic music like Dubstep, Jump-style, Hard-style or Metall. Then after a while I switch over to my guilty pleasure music, Britney spears, Rihanna, pink, Christina Aguilera and all sort of girly music. And when I get a bit tired of using so much energy I switch to my own playlist on spotify which have a good mix with about 1000 songs in every genre that fits my every mood.
The irony is that right now I’m sitting without any music writing this part. I need to focus.
This post here is worth reading, it mentions what kind of music is typical for what type of persons. In other words, your favorite songs says a lot about you.
Here are a few of the typical types. Which one are you?
So we’ve learn that music helps when we need to be creative. It has an effect on our mood and our facial expression. And what we listen to says something about your personality. Ok, some of this is new and some of this I’ve heard before. So is it all good? Does music only have a good effect on us?
Since you are a traveler of the internet, you probably have seen the video of Tylor Swift in the ITunes commercial right? If not take a look:
Think we can conclude with this: Music has many valuable aspects, it helps us in many ways. IF we use it right. It can easily distract us; when we workout, are in the car, are supposed to work or other situations. Music, are to be used with care and joy.
